Understanding Export Mapping in Sellercloud: A Comprehensive Guide

In the world of e-commerce, efficient data management is crucial for successful operations. Sellercloud, a robust e-commerce platform, offers a feature known as export mapping, which plays a pivotal role in streamlining data management processes. In this article, we’ll delve into the concept of export mapping, discuss its significance, how to test your exports after successfully scheduling an export mapping job, providing resources for executing it effectively, and conclude with exciting news about upcoming AI-driven tools.

What is Export Mapping?

Export Mapping in sellercloud refers to the process of configuring how your data is formatted and structured when exporting it from the platform. It allows you to customize the way information is presented in exported files, ensuring compatibility with various systems, marketplaces, and partners. Essentially, export mapping empowers you to tailor your data exports according to your specific requirements and the needs of your business ecosystem.

Step-by-Step Guide to Export Mapping in Sellercloud:

To do an export mapping using Delta version, which is the refresh and updated version of  the Sellercloud platform follow the steps below:

Accessing Export Mapping Settings:

  • Begin by logging in to your Sellercloud account. Once logged in, navigate to the “Settings” menu , select “Mapping Tools” and choose “Manage Export Mapping Profiles”

Create an export mapping profile & uploading export template:

  • This profile will define how the exported information should be formatted. You can customize column headers and choose from a wide range of product export types. Create an export mapping profile, specifying the profile name, profile type, export filetype. etc. Just make sure all the necessary fields are filled or ticked.
  • Select the export template that corresponds to the type of data you wish to export. Sellercloud offers a variety of pre-configured templates for products, orders, inventory, and more. Configuring Data Fields:

  • Next, choose the data fields you want to include in your export. You can select from a range of available fields, including product attributes, inventory levels, pricing information, and more.

Mapping Data Fields:

  • For each selected data field, map it to the corresponding field in the export template. This ensures that the exported data is properly aligned with the intended format and structure. This step involves mapping the column headers in your export file to the corresponding column headers in Sellercloud. For example, you can map the column header “ProductID” to “SKU”

Customizing Export Settings:

  • Customize additional export settings as needed, such as file format (e.g., CSV, Excel), delimiter preferences, and output destination.

Saving Export Mapping:

  • Once you’ve configured all the necessary settings, save your export mapping configuration for future use.

Testing An Export Mapping Job:

  • To test an export mapping, after creating and saving an export mapping, navigate to the “Orders”  then “Manage Orders” , pick and click on any one Order
  • Next click on the ‘Actions’ then ‘Export Order’
  • Choose ‘Mapping Profile’ , select the profile you created or would like to use and export the file.
  • Testing an export mapping job involves a look at how the data and fields are structured in the export and if they have been exported correctly? If you identify any discrepancies or errors in the exported data, go back to the export mapping configuration in Sellercloud. Make any necessary adjustments to the mapping to address the issues you’ve identified.
  • If you’ve made changes to the export mapping configuration, repeat the testing process to ensure that the adjustments have resolved the issues. Iterate on this process as needed until you’re satisfied with the accuracy and quality of the exported data.
  • Another step to test in the Alpha version would be to paste the Order ID/PO/SKU of what you want to test in the search box after saving the mapping and click on “Preview”. It will download a file to show how the data would have been mapped.

To follow the step-by-step process of how to do an export mapping in Alpha, which is an even earlier stage in the development lifecycle of Sellercloud preceding the Delta environment, follow these steps.

The Importance of Testing Exports:

Testing exports is critical to ensure the accuracy and integrity of your data. Before sharing exported files with stakeholders or integrating them into other platforms that integrate with sellercloud, it’s essential to verify that the data is correctly formatted and aligned with expected results. Sellercloud offers built-in tools for testing exports, allowing users to simulate the export process and review the output before finalizing it.
